Up and running

11:56 am June 11th, 2009

I’ve now spent a little more than a month on Nuuk, Greenland and it appears that I’m settling in; finally. I’ve moved to a temporary address with my girlfriend; however less temporary than the first place I lived. Hopefully we’ll stay there for awhile since we don’t pay any rent until we get a permanent place…

Anyways… Ronaldo sold to Real; well I guess he have had enough of rainy Manchester and wants back in the sun. 96 million Euros… A lot of money and a chance to prove that United isn’t just Ronaldo. But of course a play of that quality will be missed at any team. However I trust that SAF once again will prove his worth to the world and create new tactics, new team and bring forward new talent that once again will take us to the top. Yes indeed, in SAF we trust!

NCRE Answer

Finally the UN has listed the applicants for Environment from en 2008 exam. It just took them a little over a year to pick the ones they want for further interview. In my case it doesn’t really matter, since I’m not on the list. And actually that’s fine, since I’m flying out to Greenland this friday. And right now I’d rather be in Greenland than anywhere else. I’m packing my stuff, and really looking forward to trekking and sailing in Greenland this summer. So off I go, and in a month my girlfriend will follow.

Summer in Greenland with a hunting rifle… Beats being locked up in an office any day!

Grand Theft Bike

2:37 pm April 16th, 2009

In two week I’ll move to Nuuk, Greenland. For the next two weeks I’ll prepare for my departure, and get rid of all the stuff I don’t need to bring. One of these things was my bike. Of course ot would be one of the last things to get rid of, since a bike is the only sound way to move around in Copenhagen.

Some bloody idiot STOLE my bike!!!! Two week! Two bloody weeks and I couldn’t care less, but nooo. Of course he had to steal it two weeks before I leave! ARGH!!!!! I hope for the poor son of bitch that he’s written his testement… If I ever find him, I’ll cut off his fingers with a dull knife, dig out his liver with a spoon and donate the rest of his body to some Nazi-doctor in Argentine for shady medical experiments.

Chapter Two

10:03 pm April 6th, 2009

It had only been a week since the mail had arrived, and yet it seemed an eternity. Perhaps he hadn’t really done any preparation for moving to Greenland yet. He hadn’t bought anything, he hadn’t ordered anything, he hadn’t packed anything. So more or less everything looked the same.

However nothing was the same. He was mentally more ready than ever; even though he had to leave his family not knowing when he’d see them again. Within six days he had gotten back together with his old girlfriend, who was now going to move with him to Greenland. Things had been set in motion, and now there was no way back; he felt comfortable having gone through with the application and the accepting the job.

All that had to be done now was practicalities. Everything else was done, the decision had been made, the thoughts on what to do, what not to do and so forth was over. Now it was only a matter for getting through the practical preparations, like packing everything and deciding on what to bring and what to leave behind.

Chapter One

2:40 pm April 1st, 2009

It had only been two days since he got the news. A mail with the words: “Congratulation! A unanumous hiring committee has agreed on hiring you. Please confirm your interest.”

Last chance of quiting his current job was the next day before noon. Within a few hours he had confirmed his interest in the new position, and prepared a resignation note for the job he was quiting. This was probably not the right strategy since he had seen no contract, had not negotiated the salery, and didn’t have any clear idea about how the whole process woudl be from now till he arrived at his new workplace.

He did know that it would be a cut back in salery, a poorer contract than the one he had now, and the cost of living would go up. In other words a decline in living standard as a result. But as he thought, you can meassure standard of living on number different ways. One way was the financial and economic way; another way was the general conditions of living. The surroundings, the environment and the different possibilities. And by taking the factors into account, the calculation looked quite different.

Therefore even if he had to accept a cutback in income, a poorer contract and perhaps longer working hours, it did look like a good deal as an overall. And hence began chapter in his life. Now he had a month to prepare to move from Copenhagen, Denmark to Nuuk, Greenland. Quiting a job at an it-department and begining a new job in Greenland in the natural resource administration seemed like a good idea.

The weather

7:43 am March 31st, 2009

I predict ice, snow and rapidly changing weather conditions…

Old, just old…

8:45 am March 23rd, 2009

This weekend I went to an old friends birthday. I’ve known him for 14 years I think. Anyway it was really great to see him and his wife again. However I must admit that I’m just and old man now… I can’t have a drink without being hung over for two-three days. So I’m actually rather tired this monday morning at work. I don’t think this will be my most productive day ever.

Behold! A crossroad.

9:10 am March 19th, 2009

Right now I’m waiting. I’m on hold so to speak. Actually on several accounts. Of course I’m still waiting for the reply from the UN on my NCRE exam, but I’m also waiting for replies from other parts of the world. Both inside and outside Denmark. What exactly I’m waiting for I can’t say right now; but the answers may result in some changes; potentially big changes. But it may also yield no change what so ever, depending on the answer. And in the middle of all this suspence I’m really sorry on the behalf of a group of people I care for and miss. A cryptic message I know, but that’s just the way it is.

Hooray for networking!

4:57 pm March 11th, 2009

Today I finally got internet connection at home. Now I once again got access to countless hours of stupid and mindless browsing on webpages that makes little sense… Hooray!

Internet

9:41 am March 9th, 2009

The internet may be a time consuming thing. You spent a lot of time browsing through irrelevant pages, reading stupid news flash, checking up on music new, watch random videos etc. However even though I’d like to be without all those time consuming issues, I must admit, that I do miss having internet at home. Checking mail at work is ok, but my webmail isn’t the same as my mail client. I can’t use Skype etc. So all in all I’m looking forward to having internet in the convienience of my own home. Two days to go…
